5e Conversion: Fallout Nuka-Cola

Image
5e Conversion: Fallout's Nuka-Cola As there appears to be no end to my obsession with the Appalachia wasteland, I of course, must provide another conversion for  Fallout 76  into the  Dungeons and Dragons  setting. This time around, I want to tackle that most refreshing of novelty beverages, Nuka-Cola.  In case you don't know, the  Fallout  setting has a ubiquitous soda called Nuka-Cola that comes in convenient, rocket-shaped bottles. The standard variety is simply a refreshing way to hydrate and restore yourself while out and about braving the dangers of the wasteland. There are, however, several other specialty flavors that provide a wide range of other benefits. As with the chems, I feel that in a Dungeons and Dragons setting, Nuka-Cola would be a kind of potion, perhaps developed by some enterprising gnome as a way to differentiate his or her magical offerings from all the other potions that clutter up the adventuring market. 5e Conversion: Fallout Chems

5e Conversion: Fallout Chems My obsession with the Appalachia wasteland continues unabated. So, of course, I must provide another conversion for Fallout into the  Dungeons and Dragons  setting (in contrast to creating a Fallout game using the 5e ruleset ). I figured I'd take a look at some of the chems this time.  In the Fallout setting, chems are a set of consumable items you use to heal yourself and to temporarily boost your character's stats. The addiction itself causes its own side affects that can be temporarily relieved by taking another dose of the chem. The addiction can also be cured, thankfully, with a shot of something called Addictol. For a faithful conversion, I feel like there are two ways to go. The most obvious would be to treat the chems as potions. Generally, magical potions don't have any addiction ...

Gnome Alchemy

Image
Gnome Alchemy Gnome alchemy was briefly touched on in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes but that book provides very little detail regarding the practice. The concept has enjoyed a more thorough exploration in previous versions of Dungeons and Dragons .  Dragon Magazine  issue 291 , for example, is a great source for this sort of information.  What follows in this post is a sampling of alchemical formulas that any character of any race of any class can produce.  An asterisk (*) next to the name indicates the formula was either sourced from a concept  in that issue of Dragon Magazine or was inspired by concepts in  Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes . A single vial of formula covers or is effective against one Medium-sized target unless otherwise stated. A DM might want to consider requiring additional vials for larger targets and some portion of an entire vial for smaller targets, but that's up to you.
