This post is a bit early, but I figured why not publish it since it's ready to go. This is another gnome NPC. It might be off the beaten path, but I thought it was a neat idea.  Battlespring Umbodoben ( BATTLE-spring um-BOW-da-bin ) "Nothing will stop this lovely once I've installed the full scale version of my fire infused clockwise momentified water cooled long biter hyperdrill extension encasement unit and reinforced the armor plating with this here dragon scale." Battlespring (N) is a competitive, 66-year-old, male rock gnome who enjoys a good brawl as much as he enjoys tinkering. It should come as no surprise then that he is devoted to the gnome sport of construct fighting, an inventively brutal pastime that pits clockwork inventions against each other in no-holds-barred pit-fight matches for fun, profit, and inebriation. His artificial champions have won a respectable number of bouts but he has not yet qualified for Regionals or any other champion...

I struck on the idea of creating NPCs for my blog mostly as a means to let these personalities stretch their legs a little and perhaps entertain a few of you.As I release NPCs, I'll be following a general format for each one. First, there is a general description, including a portrait and stat blocks. Following that is a set of roleplaying hints, ideas for involving the NPC as a recurring character, and then some ideas for building one-shot adventures, story arcs, and side quests using the NPC.  In some posts, there might be some additional information related to the NPC. This will usually be additional reference material that I've collected from previous versions of Dungeons and Dragons . For example, the NPC I've created for this blog is an arcane gnome, and so I've included some information about arcane gnomes after the NPC description. This is it! I set out to create a list of 100 gnome encounters and this is the final installment of that collection! I hope you've enjoyed my random musings on possible gnomish adventures. They are dressed in identical clothes which are tattered and soiled in the exact same way. They both beg to be released, each pleading their innocents and accusing the other of heinous crimes. While they were written with Dungeons and Dragons in mind, they can be used in any gnome-friendly setting. These encounters can be used either as side quests or as full story arcs. They were created with Dungeons and Dragons in mind but are suitable for any setting that includes, indulges in, or flirts with, gnomes and gnome story lines. The Encounters (41-50) 41. The party finds the skeletal remains of a gnome. Next to it is a clockwork automaton that appears to be shut down. Scratched into its metal body and written in Gnomish is the following, "I've done bad things." 42. A young gnome wants to marry his or her sweetheart but the family won't allow it without a healthy supply of gems. The gnome knows where a cache is hidden but needs help retrieving it. 43. The party is beset by a host of badgers, ferrets, rats, and other burrowing ...

This is just a short blog. Sorry. This is just a short blog for a few reasons. First, I finally got around to playing Mass Effect: Andromeda and -- surprise -- it's consuming my free time from the inside out. This point could actually spin out to "media" in general, especially podcasts. Sure, The Adventure Zone wrapped up (THE FEELS), but a new story is on its way. I also listen to Mission Log (Star Trek related), Sawbones , Nerdist , WTF , Gnomeland Security , and a few others. Netflix binge-watching is also a wonderful time sink! (Isn't the new season of Stranger Things coming soon?) Second, life. Stuff happens and it takes time and effort to resolve. Work takes a huge bite out of the day. Gym takes some time too. Family. Friends. Sick dog. Yada yada yada. Third, gaming. The Skyfell campaign I'm running looks like it will be starting back up on a more reliable basis so I've been thinking about and prepping for that.
